I am looking at a TRG 22 in 308 but have been told a 2019 model but some chassis makers say 2013 and earlier? I tried good ol google but nothing came up

I really like the look of these rifles also, they seem to come up on the ee a lot, not sure why. Are there just a lot of them around?

Hey.
I currently have a TRG 22
It’s post 2013

The change on the rifles was basically to make the trigger less adjustable by the end user as people weren’t reading the instructions on how to adjust the trigger and screwing them up causing issues for Sako.
I don’t think anything changed other than that though.

Let me know what else you want to know as the rifle is extremely capable and very well put together but does have some really annoying little things (which aren’t a deal breaker for me) but might be for you.

Quite possibly the best bang for your buck, out of the box, precision rifle designed from the ground up as a sniping rifle.
What 'really annoying little things' are there on a TRG-22?

Magazines are expensive and most accessories are.

Not a lot of aftermarket support, rail needed to be purchased and installed if new.

I remember some years ago I was in a match with a guy who was using a TRG 22... I was quite impressed with how well he was doing. He didn't out shoot me but he chased me pretty hard for a factory gun.

That same guy opened a web site selling firearm accessories but has has the worst customer relationship policies I have ever experienced, so I wont even mention the name here for fear of inadvertently advertising for the schmuck.

But the TRG22 was a contender that's for sure.

True, the mags are not cheap and especially the bipods are overpriced.
Come to think of it, the rifles themselves are not cheap either.

To answer the question of the “really annoying little things”

A: cheek pieces are height dependent. Great they can be adjusted L & R but you need a different size for a perfect fit or have to build up.

B: bipod design. Love the chassis integration system but for the cash you pay the bipod should have a form of friction lock as standard.

C: upper receiver integration.
Sakos top rails are crap…. Only NEAR really make good units for this rifle.
At this price point a Pic rail needs to be standard.

Those are the three things.

Oops. Necro thread.

I find the synthetic stock to be one of the most comfortable to shoot. It just works. I used to overlook the TRG22. Until I shot one. Just picked up one. Currently in the process of scoping and have the bipod on the way.
