SAKO Varmint

Can you elaborate on the "mounts" comment? Do you suggest particular rings etc? My dealer cant seem to find one of these in Canada:(

Just the lack of mounting options in general. I'd rather they went to the drilled and tapped action like the A7, but with the 85 mag and bottom metal.

I've had an 85 Varmint Laminate Stainless in 204 on order with Clay from Prophet River since last Jan. Seems like they are hard to get indeed.

I love mine and I don't regret it one bit. Nice quality rifles cost money. Mounts are not an issue, you can get the Sako Optilocks or Millett, Leupold and a few other brands from Europe.

You won't regret it.

I use Opti-locks on my sakos but to be honest, I would prefer a pic rail or the like. Such a setup would allow for a wider use of rings (some cheaper, some not) and should also allow scopes to be mounted a little lower. For example, low optiocks allow the mounting of a scope with a 56mm bell, just to give an indication of how high these mounts get.

Price is an issue and its not. You get good quality for your money - it is not necessarily money for a name.
