Salvaging a scope

Dont know about the particulars of that scope, however, parallax can be adjusted on most scopes by adjusting the front lense in or out. Most scopes are threaded inside the front bell, and have retaining rings, to accomodate this.

Yeah, no. This does not have an adjustable objective. Fixed 4 power. God knows how old it is.

I think he's referring to the ocular lens rather than the objective lens. Most have the ability to turn the ocular in or out to fine tune the focus. This can have an impact on the amount of parallax effect. Not sure about the scope you are referring to though, have never handled one.

If its old enough send it to weaver, I know Leupold likes to have old beatup scopes to collect they, just simply send you a new one and keep the old one to leave in their demo cabinet.

It can be done like previously said but it involves quite extensive and delicate work with a lens spanner and collimator.
And it will fog up if you don't replace that moist air with something like dry nitrogen before remounting and sealing the works.
I have performed some work on scopes, mostly replacing broken reticles with very fine kevlar thread but it was just for fun and education, not for a living. I once tried with some hair from one of my asian girlfriends (beautiful straight hair but too thick for most scopes!). Best hair was the very fine undercoat hair from my Tibetan Terrier :)

Better get your scope to an experienced serviceman if you want the job done cleanly.
PP.
