SAM 9mm Thunderbolts Are In!

The problem is everyone was wanting 9mm thunderbolts. The thunderbolts come with rails. I would suggest looking at the enhanced military for the classic division.

I have but it doesn't have all the features I'd like that the Thinderbolt does have. I was just wondering if it was a possibility in the future but if not that's fine.

Thanks John for the Thunderbolt

Just got my 9mm Stainless Thunderbolt. Very pleased with the fit and finish of this gun.
Thought you might like to see it once it's cleaned up.
Now, just need to wait for the registration...

Huh, is that new? I thought I read in the IPSC rule book that you couldn't but I see it indeed does allow it. Thanks for the tip.

edit: I see it is indeed new for 2015.

Yes, railed 1911's are now approved in Classic division as long as the dust cover lenght from the leading edge to the rear of the slide stop pin is 75mm or less. The measured length of the Tunderbolt's dust cover is 87mm, so unless you trim 12-13mm off the dust cover it's not allowed in Classic div.

I'm not a big fan of railed guns but could live with it. Do these fit most standard 1911 holsters or do you need to buy one specifically for a railed 1911?

Uh... well the rail is for a light or laser/light combo... so usually one picks a holster that will do both the handgun and the light mounted on it.

This is a common configuration for tactical teams like SWAT who do dynamic entries into strange unfamiliar rooms looking for people who don't want to be found. The point being there ARE holsters made to do this.

You need a different holster specifically for a railed 1911.

Too bad, thanks for clarifying that.
