Hi, so I have the commander and have been getting some nice groups at 25y dead center but high by 12 inches. This is multiple groups from sandbag rest. From what I can tell the rear sight cut is novak and the front is dovetail? Any commander owners care to confirm that please:)

Anyway - in order to lower the point of impact I must get a taller front sight or get an adjustable rear sight to lower the rear sight correct? I am leaning towards a taller front sight post as it seems like the easier and cheaper fix, plus I was thinking of getting a fiber optic front sight anyway. Any recommendations on fixes or sights you have upgraded to would be appreciated. Thanks!

Try shooting freehand and see what the differance of impact is.

Assuming you won't be doing all your shooting from the bag.

Mine also shot high.Wolverine has brought in some taller sights and if you send in your slide their gunsmith will replace it as a warranty item.At least they did for me.When i got it back i then proceded to file down the sight as needed because it now shot to low.Of course,i took to much off and it now shoots high again.Great gun, to bad i screwed up a free repair.

If you're loading your ammo somewhat light the lower bullet velocity will tend to make your groups print higher. If you don't want to shoot full power loads and do not want to invest in an adjustable rear sight then you can compensate by reducing the bullet weight to go with the lighter powder weight. A lighter bullet will be faster and exit the barrel earlier in the recoil cycle. Thus they print lower when used with the same charge.

shot some groups today at 7 yards 2 inches high at 15 yards 6 inches high at 25 12 inches high. Both from rested and unsupported with 230gr rn and 200gr swc in front of 4.7 titegroup. Sooo how hard would it be for me to replace the front sight or should I just ship it to wolverine? Thanks.
