I have a stored quantity of Samson (blue and white box). It's 150 gr soft point and marked as match on the end flap.
I've tried it in my Remington 700/Weaver Grand Slam scope and it's not particularly accurate (about 1 1/4 to 2 inches MOA at 100 Meters.
I've done 1 inch MOA with 3 shots on a good day from a good rest in the prone position but it's not that consistant.

My questions are:

1. Is this stuff really match quality - Has anyone else used it and found it to be very accurate or is the label match just marketing by IMI. I also don't know of any hunting soft point ammo carrying the match label. Most match is open tipped.

2. As this seems obviously to be hunting ammo, what bullet is being used and would it be a good performer on say, mule deer

Any replies from anyone whose has had some experience with this brand would be appreciated.

I have never seen soft point ammo marked "match".

If the bullet is a soft point developed for hunting, it would be about right for deer.

Collect a few large phone books and soak them in a bucket of water for a day or two, and then shoot them with a round. It will confirm that the bullet expands, does not blow up, etc.

Or, just buy a box of Federal or Winchester.

Check Google.

That sounds like not a bad idea!!

Thanks for the replies.
