Hi folks,
I made an inquiry into what category I would be in by shooting my USP with different holsters for a sanctioned SCSA (Steel Challenge Shooting Association).

(a) with a regular Belt Holster (ie: bladetech) I would be in SSD IDPA
(b) with a dropped and offset or Speedsec "race" holster, I would be in Limited (USPSA) division.

For a steel challenge the need for a magwell is not important (IMO), a quick draw and good cadence with no misses is more important. In this match, the maximum PF is 160!! Minimum floor for moving bullets is 750fps.

I don't feel that a heavy pistol is of major advantage to a steel challenge match. (ie; lighter is preferred I guess...?) You usually only need 5 or 6 rounds, so mag capacity is not important either.
I guess my disadvantage to using the HK USP in 9mm is that I will be shooting DA first shot. My single action shots are fine. I am used to taking the DA shot first. I don't find I lose much if any time as opposed to setting the HK USP to a SA first shot with external safety (ie; like a 1911). I do draw faster with the Speedsec than I would with a Belt holster, especially when drawing from the surrender position.

I do have any STI Edge that I could use in Limited, but I am not use to using it.
Any thoughts and opinions would be appreciated.
