Well I'm officially in the long distance shooting game as I got a Savaga BA 100 in .338 Lapua for Christmas :) Topped with TBG rings and a Sightron 8-32 x 56 scope. :ar15: New to this so any advice well be appriciated just ifguring out what I well use for reloading right now.

Post pics then get some good gear to reload with. Try with factory match grade Lapua to get a baseline for accuracy too and dont forget a range report:D Congrats of a long distance shooter.

Sweet! Pics would be nice. Never had a Savage, was always a Rem 700 dude until I went to an Accuracy International and havent looked back since. I fired the rifle you have and it shoots much better than I do. Enjoy.

Mine has an issue with the mondo scope mount loosening off not holding zero. Loctite didn't seem to help either. I love the rifle, it shoots great, has good manners, and has a longer mag than my remmy lapua (mine is 300wm). I loved the look of the mondo rail but its just to big and sensitive to being bumped.

What rail did you end up going with

I put a Sightron SIII fixed 20x on mine.

Has a ridiculous amount of elevation (150 minutes) and huge eye relief (3 inches)

Great scope for the money, very nice glass on it.

Mystic Precision supplied it for me.

Welcome to the game, I've wondered how those shoot, be sure to keep us posted.
You're on your way to an enjoyable addiction.

I got a Savage BR in 308 about three months ago and haven`t shot it yet due to a badly broken shoulder but am hoping to give it a christening this week. I have a 36x B&L in Leupold rings mounted and will be using it mostly at 200/300 metres. Going to be interesting to see how it shoots.

Talk to Ken Farrell about a better rail for the rifle. His products are top notch as is his customer service. (Now, cue the Richard Near fanboys)

Why?

I'll be ordering my third set from him in January. One of these projects I will get a Farrell or one of the other American makes. But I still remember Obami preaching buy American. So if I can buy Canadian, I will.

So here is a pic as promissed.

Took it out yesterday in the frezzing cold and broke in the barrel and sighted the rifle in at 100m. ( I know dumb being it was -24 out). The gun shoots very well using factory Hornady 250 grain tap ammo. I'm very impressed so far by the glass quality, and can't wait to start shooting some of those 300Grains I picked up from Rick a couple of days ago. The main thing that has impressed me so far is the support and help fellow shooters have shown me. I jumped in feet first as this is the first gun I have ever owned, I hunted 15 years ago with my father but haven't shot much in the mean time. I've had people PM me offering to help with shooting to reloading and I really appreciate it. I did the same thing diving in to race cars years ago, and enjoyed every minute of it. Can't wait to get some more rounds down range :) Ron
