hello all! I just picked up a sap 6 shotgun made by Dagger. Sorry if my questions have straight
forward answers but trying to interpret canadien gun laws/regulations give me a massive headach!
this shotgun has a telescoping butt stock that can be removed by depressing a button\pin which
without the butt stock, has a overall length less than 26 inches.

question #1
does firing my shotgun with out the butt stock make it "restricted"?

when the gun came from factory ,in the box the stock was not in the gun itself, and no modifications
have been made to the gun and was sold as "non restricted".
(the CURRENT LAW CC s. 84(1) "restricted weapon" (b): confuses me a little with the wording)

http://www.whyfor.com/firearm/length.html <---where i originally read from

OVERALL LENGTH LESS THAN 26"/660mm RULES:

CC s. 84(1) "prohibited firearm" (b): This is another clause of the same law -- the one
cited immediately above -- and it applies in the same way. If the firearm ARRIVES at the
"less than 26"/660mm in overall length" condition by "sawing, cutting" etc., then it is
forced into the "prohibited firearm" class. If it left the factory at that too-short length,
the limit does NOT apply. It is non-restricted, UNLESS it is semi-automatic AND centrefire.

CURRENT LAW CC s. 84(1) "restricted weapon" (b):

If the firearm ARRIVES at the "less than 26"/660mm" overall length by "folding, telescoping
or otherwise" INSTEAD OF by "sawing, cutting" etc., it is forced into the "restricted weapon"
class. If it left the factory at the too-short length, or arrived at the too-short length by
the addition or substitution of factory-made or custom-made parts that are
NOT SHORTENED FACTORY-MADE PARTS, the limit does NOT apply.

question #2
this gun has a forward assist spring for the pump. has anyone with experience with this gun ran it with
out the spring or is it possible?

thx in advance for any help

1; I would keep the buttstock on it.
You don't need the legal hassles, and the gun is plenty short enough already.

2; I think you need to keep the spring in.
The gun does not lock into battery like most pump shotguns.
The spring is the only thing keeping the action closed when you fire.

thx for the replies guys! i havent had it out yet and i cant wait...pretty much every review ive seen seems very positive but there doesnt seem to be alot of vids on it compared to other shottys

thx for the reply TV-Press pass...i just seen some pics of ur shotty set up on a different thread, looks bad ass....how do u like it with out the spring? and did the JB weld hold?

I know someone who bought a SAP6 and has nothing but problems with it. In fact it is going back to the distributors gunsmith to get looked at. He had failure to extract issues that basically jammed up the firearm after the first shot. Short brass was more problematic, all types of bird shot. He had sporadic issues with buck and slugs. Short loading the 6 round mag with only 5 rounds, no luck either.

The name itself was a joke, the SAP part was meant to mean the people who buy it:p
