I am checking R.M maps for Mankota and noticed alot of leased land close to USA border and close to Grasslands National Park. I noticed the National Park actually leases 6 quarters outside of Park Boundary.

Is this leased "Crown Land"?

Just wondering what rules are on leased Crown land for getting access for hunting?

Leased to whom and for what? It’s illegal for land to be leased or rented for the purpose of hunting in SK. Are you looking at crown pasture lands leased for grazing purposes?

He’s asking about hunting on leased crown land. Do you have to ask the person that’s leasing the land.

And I’d call the RM and get a contact, ask either way. I don’t hunt yet but I’ve always asked to shoot on leased crown land in SK. Less hassle if someone calls you in (have permission in writing and contact info).

If I recall that info is in the regs. Pretty sure crown pastures are open to all to hunt without permission from the lessor?

That's kinda true. Unoccupied crown land requires no permission. Occupied crown land whether timber, mining, oil, or grazing requires permission from the lease holder to access.

Not sure about PFRA or other actual crown pastures. But I would assume the pasture manager would be able to answer.

He is asking about lease land that just normal people lease from the province for either farming or pasture. You have to ask the person that has the lease on that particular quarter if you can hunt. The lease land that is labled grasslands park is no hunting. The community pastures are open to hunting from november 1st to march 31st as long as there is not a fire ban. The pasture manager can put animals in certain fields if they please to keep them closed to hunting.

I was once told that leased crown land can not be posted but wasn't sure?

Will still ask permission but alot of the land is only labeled by ranch name....no home quarter family name. So will have to contact R.M to find out how to contact owner.

email the national park and ask them.
then when they reply you have email proof,if you get permission to hunt on there
