What is the entry fee??

Is there a deadline for entry??

Any gun?? or is there a caliber restricton?? Brakes allowed?? Bipods?? Bags??

Is this fullbore rules or F class??

Anything a newbie should know coming to something like this??

Entry fee is $30 per day at SPRA
You must be a PRA member (SPRA,APRA.MPRA,etc) for insur reasons
You reg at the door so 9am is the latest
Centerfire rifle, range restricted to 338 Mags, no brakes allowed in comps. If you shot a scoped rifle, then whatever floats your boat, bipod or rest. Rear bags are allowed. (basically it is DCRA rules for FF and FO and T/R) www.dcra.ca Rules are here http://www.dcra.ca/CFRC Rules/RuleBook.htm
Come with your rifle sighted in at whatever and know your comeups from that yardage helps.

Since this match is at the same time as Ottawa's CFRC, there will not be many regular guys there. I know Stan, Gord and myself will be in Ottawa then.

Nokomis NorthStar range SPRA, 9.9 km east of Nokomis or 6.15 miles to the gate from the pavement on the Nokomis Grid. North side of the road is the gate, across from the 3 grain silo's, you will see flags and a berm with number at the top of it and a clubhouse 600 yds down the range road on the right. The other yellow highway below Nokomis running west is Hwy 15

Jeez Kodiak, I been there and it is one of the nicest ranges I've shot on, but you could watch your dog run away from home for three days there! :) You should have told me you guys have no mountains or trees... I could have brought a potted plant or something to break-up the horizon!!

Blygy, make the trip. I guarantee you will have a blast and the Sask boys are some of the most welcoming folks you'll meet. I warn you: once you try F-Class shooting, you're hooked. Check out the APRA website too, there are some fantastic matcvhes in Alberta. I will be coming out in the fall for the Gil Hurst match and the frigid pumpkin, or whatever the heck they call it.

Any one ever run into a couple, Loretta and Mike Nash, at the Sask. events??? If so give them a " HI" for me... I had them at a course a few years ago up at Rocky.. nice folks....

Mike & Loretta are usually at the matches but this year we have not seen much of them. They made it to one for sure and Mike hurt his back and Loretta has a nasty cold I heard so they did not make it out to the Provs.

Big, keep an eye on saskrifles.ca for the new years schedule. Should be up early Jan of 2010

Hi I am new to this site and guns as well I want to enter into this these comps and learn much as i can. I like long range shooting. Getting my restricted license in 2 weeks....what calibre is best for long range and comps? and which gun would you recommend to buy first for this purpose.....can show up to these comps and just watch?

Yes, you can just show up and watch OR pay an entry fee and shoot, your call, it is a long drive to just watch.

You asked what caliber is best - depends on what you want, 308 with 155g is FF and it works, 6BR with 80g works as Fclass Open and works, you would be surprised at what works, like the 6.5x55 with 139g or 142g pills (even if it is 100+ yrs old cartridge, developed in 1891) works too.

Long Range is typically bolt action rifles in single shot so you do not need a restricted lic.
