Well I screwed up on when entering the big game draw and have now found myself hunting in zone 14 west of Lancer Ferry. Ive never hunted or even been to this part of Sask but have heard that some nice mulies have come from there.
Any of you guys know where I should start?? Any campgrounds in the area??
Im heading up there in less then 2 weeks and am spending the first 2 days scouting before the opener but am always open to a good place to start??

Cheers!!

Some place there is a ferry crossing there(not the two leg kind) and I think if you stay east of that there are some good hills down to the lake. When you travel on the Cabri to sasklanding grid you can see some pretty good hills to the north there as well. Couldn't hurt to take a peek. My 2 cents.

Well I really lucked out as i went to the local gunshow and the one of the big dealers I was talking to actually lives right in that zone and proceeded to tell me some good areas. The guys even offered a spot in his yard to park my trailer, very nice guy :D
Thanks for the heads up Saskhunter, I was directed to go in that area you mentioned.

Cheers!!

Keep in mind, Zone 14W is only on the north side of the river and West of Lancer Ferry road. You need a 13W tag if you are hunting on the south side of the river (East of Cabri). Cabri is on the line from 13E and 10. Doug is Northwest of Cabri - can't remember, but I think his place is located in zone 13W.

CWD zones are East of where you are hunting and don't open until November 6th. (WMZ 14 is CWD and includes 14E East of Lancer Ferry road, 13E East of Lancer Ferry road, and zone 12 and parts of zones 23 and 24 this year)

I am sure your $5 is safe, Rich.

By the way, you'll find both mulies and white tails in that zone - and there are still some big ones around. So, you start hunting and push them all East for us to take for CWD this year.:)

If you look at the current 2006 Hunters and trappers Guide 14 W line is drawn along the south side of the river not the North side ( looks that way to me). Looks like the south side of the river has a small portion to hunt near Cabri  I'll have to phone the DNR and see if perhaps the boundry changed?
Appreciate all the advice guys!!

The zone line is the river. It is not on either side. 14W is only on the North side.

Check your map again, you might be seeing Zone 12. I've hunted this neck of the woods for about twelve years.
