Kim Leduc is the 2009 Saskatchewan Sporting Clays Association’s Provincial champion.
The Saskatchewan Sporting clays association, led by Ken Rasmussen, Jim Brown and Rick Espie, held the Provincial Championship on Ken’s farm, south of Assiniboia, SK on July 19th.
There were 37 shooters competing, including 5 ladies, 3 junior boys and 1 junior girl. The course was laid out/ modified from the previous days fundraising shoot. All presentations were changed, but the shoot committee wisely left the shooting stands in place. 150 targets were attempted on 16 stations. All the targets were there to be hit but it took some concentration to run stations. With 123/150 winning the day, Kim proved he had 4 targets more of concentration and ability than the rest of the field. There were shooters from Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. The Saskatchewan Association allows shooters from all over to compete for High Overall, but the Provincial Championship must be won by a Saskatchewan shooter. Kim Leduc won both.
Ladies concurrent was won by Jesse Rasmussen, who was coming off the High Overall win at Regina. Top junior shooter was Jesse Putnam from Manitoba.
Overall the shoot was well run, targets were there to be hit or missed, and the people were great.
Thanks to the committee for their hard work and to the sponsors, including Winchester as the lead sponsor, for the $1500 prize pool.
