We got any wanna-be "Wild Bunch" shooters out there?

Kind of odd how SASS is returning to it's IPSC roots with the WB event. The founders of SASS called themselves the 'Wild Bunch', all of them IPSC burnouts.

My wife and I are gearing up for it and I'd like to do a local match with the IPSC guys. At the club level, we'd allow period handguns (up to 1916 - lead bullets) and SxS shotguns as well as '97's.

Looks like a good cross-over sport.

That M3 shoulder/tanker holster will be very popular with your RSOs ;).

Yeah, about as happy as a SASS RO would be with an IPSC impractical "practical" holster.

Shoulder holsters and x-draw holsters are specifically prohibited. "All pistols must be carried in a safe holster capable of retaining the firearm throughout a normal range of motion."

Worst possible scenario? People might have to invest in a new holster to play another game. Boo-hoo .... ;>(

I've shot a couple of "Wild Bunch" matches in the US in the last year, including the US Nationals at Winter Range. It is as much fun as Cowboy Action as long as the Pistol count doesn't above 20 rds per stage, past that you are just shooting "IPSC in a costume". The same attitudes come out.

It might be a good way to get some IPSC guys shooting cowboy and it could also attract the milsurp crowd. The best time I had shooting a pistol was a milsurp match and I was using a 2nd Model Hand Ejector in 455 Webley while dressed in a Long Range Desert Group costume. It was a load of fun.

Watching a couple of vids on 'WB' stages, it did look like "IPSC In Cowboy Clothes", but once the 'gamers' took over with Cowboy 'race guns' and pipsqueak .38 Spl. loads, the nature of the sport was changed forever.

I really hope the 'attitude' doesn't kill the 'spirit of the game' I've come to enjoy in CAS.
