We're open normal hours tomorrow with full staff but if anyone one is stopping by to specially see me it's best to wait until next week. I blew an ear drum out and I'm not up to talking with anyone. The slightest noise sends sharp pains thru my head :(

Btw, has anyone had this happen before? How long to heal and how long does it feel like someone is stabbing you in the ear?

sounds like an ear infection goto the doctor and get it looked at they will give you drops or pills and it takes 2-3 weeksish.. for me it takes 3 days but I get them every year and treat them before they get bad..

Depends how you did it, and what frequencies it is hitting. While we cannot hear exceptionally high and low notes, we still feel them and that is how they come across, as sharp pains.

Ear infection. On anti biotics already but the pressure blew it out. I went to the doc today and they gave me pain killers....they really have no effect on it.

Hole in the eardrum? I've had that, alongside a ear infection. Keep taking the pills, and get a good nights sleep for the next week, two weeks, and you'll be better than ship-shape.

Make sure to keep taking your anti-biotics through the full course. Once your ear drains it will take three to four days for your drum to grow back and the pain will lesson considerably. Depending on how quickly the infection dries up, it can take anywhere from 4 days to 2.5 weeks though your pain will decrease quite a bit everyday once the pressure is gone. Try to be patient and hang in there bud !

try taking an anti inflammatory such as advil, I know its a lesser pain killer but for me anything else the doctor usually gives me never works that great.

I had an inner ear infection for 6 weeks one time ... I could not hear out of one ear for 4 weeks, 90% hearing loss I'd say - it drove me freaking nuts as I was unbalanced and couldn't talk on the phone, or work, or even sleep

Blew my ear a few times.First time was from infection, the next was from scubba diving. It hurts like all hell. An ear infection is not a blown ear drum, they are two different animals. The later being by far the most painfull. Although infection can cause it to blow nder pressure. It will heal with time. But may never be exactly the same. Right now it feels like I have constant water in my right ear, shooting helps a lot..lol. Get well soon.

Ya, it blew out from the pressure of the infection. I don't remember but my mother swears I blew it out when I was scuba diving 20 years ago...ok, that makes me feel old.

LOL it was about 20 years ago when I blew mine out scubba diving in Cuba, you are not the only one that feels old.lol
Was a cheap dive course for like a hundred bux for five dives..Good times except when it was time to decompress and blow air out my ear. Fvcking hurt.. It took a while to heal and is still a little more sensative then the other. I double up on ear pro wen I shoot now. Good luck and hope it heals fast.

I always soak my ears with Polysporin Ear drops or equivalent. Lay on your side watching TV with a pillow. Fill the ear that is up with the drops. Turn over in 15 to 30 minutes and do the other ear. You can do this as many times a day as you can - at least twice each ear per day.

Keep taking the antibiotic pills, you need them too. You will probably need a double dose of a strong narcotic painkiller. The one they gave me had me spinning and vomiting, but it finally worked and I could not feel my whole head.

Re. antibiotic eardrops
I found they work because the antibiotic soaks into the small blood vessels in your ear and kind of spreads around the area, killing infection. If you catch things early they are all you need. In your case you need the pills too.

There is nothing more painful than what you have, including an abscessed tooth.
Well a sinus infection will hurt more - and you will get that too without the antibiotic pills.

I feel for ya. I'm prone to ear infections and have had a couple of blown ear drums over the years. sadly there is not much you can do but suffer through and avoid big temp changes. Hope you get well soon

I'm at the emerg today waiting in line...another problem with my ear...and a guy brings in his approx 12 year old daughter with a broken arm. She's crying, its bleeding abit etc They make her wait and no one will let her a head of them. I gave her my spot...my good deed for the day.

What's wrong with people? Not one person (of about 10) a head of me appeared to have anything more than the sniffles. In stead the pasty guy who's sweating to death in a cold room, is doubled over in his chair and on the verge of passing out from the pain has to give up his spot. I didn't mind doing it at all but someone closer the the front should have done it before me. End pain killer induced rant.

My point being what's wrong with people. One person was complaining the girl was crying to loud.
