Purchased a nice P14 (.303 Brit) from a seller at the HACS Burnaby gun show today...Numbers match on barrel, receiver and rear site. Plenty of 'W' markings on other parts although nothing on the wood. Perhaps it was replaced at some point. Any info on markings would be appreciated...thanks 002.jpg003.jpg004.jpg005.jpg007.jpg

Your rifle was accepted by British inspectors at the Winchester factory in Week ending 23 December 1916.

Metal is P14 Winchester. Stock is a replacement and looks like 1917 Enfield (P17). I can see the US flaming bomb marking on the tip. Believe your stock is a WW11 replacement by shape of finger groove and forend profile. Is there a brass marking disc on the bolt side of the rifle? Ron

Thanks for the input Tony & Ron...There's no brass marking disc (or provision for one) on the rifle..I unscrewed the trigger guard and dropped the magazine out to find an 'N' stamped inside the stock..I've also found some very faint markings on the left side of the stock under the rear site....Looks like 'OEL'...?
Superb solid rifle and in great shape considering its age...Definately a favourite..

I just came across an old P14 , sadly it's been sporterized. Sights are gone, replaced with weaver bases. Looks like rear sight area milled off for rear base.
The rifle has a lot of markings though I have no idea what any of that stuff means.
It has very clear "E" stampings on most parts where I see markings.
Matching serial numbers that appear to be same tool used on all 3. Receiver has ERA and a 5 digit serial number 49_15.
Action is super smooth, trigger pretty damn nice and the bore looks amazing considering rifle's age.
The stock needs replacing badly however.
Cool rifle, would like to learn more about it.
I'm gathering from my brief jaunt on google that it is an eddystone

Can anyone tell me more about this rifle?
