Sauer 202 Caliber conversion question 9.3 to 30-06

Ok then why are you asking if you already knew the answer?
I figured since you didn't know they used the same size bolt face you should just sell it and buy a new gun.im glad your aware of the switch barrel. Now you know you can just buy a barrel.

I don't know the answer. I know that on this rifle some caliber conversions can be made with barrel change alone, while others additionally require a new bolt and/or mag. I can't find reliable info on which conversions require which parts.

They take the same bolt face and case dimensions are extremely similar. Can't see why it wouldn't be just the barrel. Definitely wait for the email to be certain though.

Have no experience with the 9.3 (yet :) ) Just looked at the cases on line compared, looked like one was more " open " in the back. Larger groove that is. Length is about the same.

If you Google Sauer 202 manual and download it the information you are seeking is on page 23. In your case, the bolt is the same for the 3006 and 9.3 but there is a designated 9.3 magazine.

Info:

I own a Voere 2185 rifle in 30-06. A Sauer 202 in 270 Winchester works just fine in my rifle too.
The 9.3x62 magazine is interchangeable with the above calibers.

IIRC, spare Sauer 202 magazines actually have these three calibers engraved on them.

I think I would be trying the old magazine first. I can't imagine any magazines from Sauer being sold at the dollar store.

With the current setup, a 30-06 snap cap will feed from the 9.3 magazine no problem, but the extractor will not grip the case head on opening the bolt. Can we deduce from this that the 9.3 mag will work for 30-06? The only problem is with extraction, but the magazine should not affect this, right? Would it be the difference in the barrel that is preventing proper extraction? We know the same bolt works for both calibers so that is not the issue. Thoughts?
