Looking at what appears to be a good deal on a Sauer 202 "Team Sauer" model. Can any one tell me about this model? I cannot find any reference to it in recent Sauer catalogues. It has oil finished wood monte Carlo stock, rosewood grip cap but *not* forend tip, heavy fluted barrel with open sights. Metal is matte black. Where would this model fall in terms of the current 202 lineup? Is it different from the current 202 classic? Is it giving up anything compared to other 202 models?

I'd email Sauer directly and ask...

It sounds like just a heavy bbl version of a 202 classic, it will have one of the 3 triggers offerd and most likely I'd assume it would be the target version of the set trigger... They say in the catalogue that they don't offer the schnabel forend on heavy barrel rifles so nothing weird about that....

Should be a very nice rifle :)

I did end up buying it, couldn't resist. Chambered in 9.3x62. Dealer had it listed as a 202 "Lux" but the receiver says "Team Sauer". The wood is nice but I wouldn't call it deluxe quality based on the Elegance models I have seen. Was tagged at 3500 including a Zeiss Conquest and an extra mag. I traded in another rifle against it for what I felt was a good deal. Hope I didn't get hosed!

It seems to be a nice rifle, I'm just not sure what it is. Has a set trigger. Forend is in fact a schnabel but not in contrasting wood. I suspect it may be the predecessor to the current 202 Classic. I will have to contact Sauer to find out for sure. I'm quite amazed that this relatively recent model, which I gather was introduced circa 2006, has virtually no recorded history online. Must have been very short lived and/or never imported in quantity to NA.

There is TON's of info on Sauer online... If you speak German...
Lol
Actually the UK forums have some interesting Sauer information, there is also a great English version of the instruction manual online just gotta search a bit for what you want.... These are not as common as a mod70 or your typical savage.

Get some pics up so we can drool a little... Intresting about the forend, maybe I read that part wrong in the catalogue?

Here's how it looks.
