I have a Sauer SAA copy in .22 that jams up all the time. It seems to cycle without problems if you pull the hammer to the full #### position and pull the trigger. It usually jams when you half-#### it to eject or reload.

Once it's jammed up there's nothing you can do to free it except to pull the cylinder shaft, at which point it comes free without any effort.

I bought it used at auction and didn't pay much for it, so it's not the end of the world. But, I'd like to get it working properly or sell it to someone who can, because it's not much use as it is.

Does anybody know what causes this problem and how to fix it?

Check to see if there is a burr on the "Hand" This will cause jaming on half cocked position.

Let us know what you find.

You were right, brnolvr. I had looked at that and hadn't noticed the burr. I filed it flat and that helped somewhat. I can see now that the problem is both the wear on the cylinder and the burr on the hand. I can completely eliminate the jamming if I rotate the cylinder forward just slightly when I release the hammer from half cocked. I can plink away with it and not have a problem, now. But, it still can't be considered reliable and I wouldn't want to pass it to anyone else.

I imagine a new cylinder would cost more than the gun's worth.
