Hi All,

I bought a Savage 10/110 Trophy Hunter XP Rifle in .308 from BPS last year as my first rifle purchase. Figured it would be a good starting point - and that price point was great given it came with a Nikon 3-9x40.

At the time, I was keen on a wooden stock - never really liked the synthetic look, especially on the comparative 11/111. However after taking it out on a four day hunt up in Kearny I regretted it for two reasons. Firstly with the amount to trekking we did through the bush I wished I had gone with the lighter synthetic. Secondly we had a tonne of snow, and the soft wood soaked it up and now the finish is chipping in certain places.

What are my options here? Can I buy a synthetic stock and swap it out? If so where can I buy one and approximately how much will it cost? (I live in Toronto).

Alternatively can I fix the damage? At this point its mostly cosmetic but I don't want it to get worse with every hunt given I've only had it for for about 6 months and put 40-50 rounds through it.

Will do as soon as my join request has been approved.

Small world - we rented and stayed in cabin on Sand Lake for the trip up.

It's a nice lake. A bit too crowded for me hunting wise but there are a lot of deer and moose.

Your action spacing, dbm type, and bolt release location will all play a role in what stock will fit and which ones won't. The wood should be ok and may need to be sealed and refinished.

what ^^^^^ said. The biggest factor in availability and choices of stock on savages now is the location of the bolt release. Quite a lot of choices for side of the receiver bolt release, not as many choices for the newer front of trigger guard bolt release.

Boyd's are good stuff. I put one on my Savage 16 ITH and it really improved the groups.

On number 5, and 6 is on its way.
