Hi all, just got myself a nice savage 10 FCP HS precision. I will be shooting from 100m up to 1000m . For the scope I was thinking about a vortex HST 6-24 or a sightron siii ss in MIL. I need some inputs for a 20 moa base and good quality rings. Thanks !

I just recieved one also, I thought they came with a 20 moa rail, but maybe not, I will require one also, might as well put it on right off the bat. I am leaning towards the sightron SIII, for my first long range scope, simply due to price and quality/value!

EGW for 20 MOA Rail

I have used Leopold rings on mine.

If you re-load try the 175 SMKs they tend to work well with the Savage 1:10 barrel twist.
Great, how far out have you shot so far with success? My medium term goal is 1000 meters, and if successfull with that maybe keep going with study and practice, to a mile, it will be tough though!

I'm not a really consistent shooter and still have lots to learn.

8" inch plate at 500 meters is the farthest I've shot it. Was with a couple of friends shooting out in the bush.

Unfortunately have to sell the rifle to fund a build.

I get really good results at 100 and 300 meters at my local range.

As what you have said ... practice, practice, practice!

Shame you are selling, but yes it will take time, if I ever get out that far, a couple years, and the eyes aren't getting any better. You might want to hold onto it till the savage rebate thing is over, prices are really good now, paid $1499. And will get back $100. U.S. From Savage! Any tips you ( or any one else) has on getting the best out of these rigs would help! OP, sorry for slightly hijacking your thread, however I figure you could use any tips too!

Where's that 100$ rebate ? You must have the McMillan stock if you paid 1500 . I got my HS for 1100 + taxes. Yours came with a rail ?

Sku, 21449, from a place we can't say but starts with a C and ends with abelas, it is a fcp HS comes with rail, not sure if it is 20 moa, and Savage has a rebate on till end of May so if you just got yours, you can download the paperwork on their site!

Try some 168 amax bullets and 4064imr. My savage loves these as well as the 178amax/bthp and even the 208 amax though I don't shoot the larger grain bullets enough but there sub moa. I just don't push them fast as I could I think. I trade accuracy for Fps. But any 168gr bullet should shoot well with the right load behind it.

Ok, I think I see the difference,, you got the .308?!? I got the .338LM. No matter, all the science is pretty much the same and if you bought lately, you can still get the rebate!

Hi, go with Ken Farrell base and rings ''Prophet River, Hirsch Precision, Mystic Precision'' all sell them

Cool, the great thing is, so far, if you look on the Cabela's U.S. Site, these and other rifles are the same or more and in U.S. Dollars!! So we are getting a fantastic deal!
