Haven't shot the rifle much in stock chases yet, so don't know what it's fully capable of but I am already thinking about upgrading from the accustock to MDT XRS leaving room for some other accessories or LSS Gen 2 which will be less money for other accessories. I do like the XRS a bit more with a traditional look, not just the price difference, will I see much of a difference the stock upgrade compared to the accustock?

I checked out the Oryx its nice, I have been checking out MDT and Cadex more as I just know them better. Compared to the aluminum bedding of these aftermarket stocks to the Savage accustock aluminum bedding what's the difference. Other than the better look of the aftermarket chassis.

I am new to long range shooting but have always wanted to get into it so be gentle on the comments;)

Your gaining the ability for aics mags. Adjustable cheek comb. Length of pull. I had an oryx and it's not that great to be honest. The LSS is too short in the fore end. The XL is a better choice. I currently have an XRS with a howa sitting in it and I really like the xrs. It's kinda ugly but feels solid when you're behind it. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another xrs.

Im really liking the XRS, what is the weight for those that have it compared to the stock accustock as lighter stock can bring more recoil which i dont really notice at the moment on the accustock. If I got this option it would also give me left over money for bipod. which also brings in the debate on what mounting style to pick.

The xrs is heavy in my opinion. I don't know what the accustock weighs but the xrs is more without a doubt. I have KRG Bravos as well and the xrs is about a pound heavier I believe in their stock forms.

If just field shooting and not competing, I'm sure a pic rail will allow for easy attachment. I run a small pic rail with a Harris on a QD mount on my xrs

I have only held a bare XRS, I really liked it. I am tempted to buy one, and then sell my Savage chassis or the XRS depending on the one I like the best. I would add an Arca rail to it, as then you are not dragging the pic rail or stud through a bag or backpack.

Thanks I think I am going purchase the XRS it will allow me to still have money for a few more things plus good ammunition. I think one of my main concerns about if its worth getting is that I only have access to 200m range and being new to Ontario I am hoping i can find access to visit longer ranges to see what I can really do

I don't want to piss in your corn flakes but sometimes the chassis can cost more than the rifle.

If you cant find a chassis that you love for the rifle you have, then consider getting the chassis you love and and action to fit it.

Don't paint yourself into a corner where you are in so deep that you can never get the one you find out you should have got in the first place.

Not that I'm suggesting there's anything wrong with what you have... I'm not.

I currently have 4 scopes, two chassis and two rifles for sale that have been replaced with what I should have got in the first place.

No worries my cornflakes are good, I do know what you mean.

I really like my Savage FCP sr, it has good reviews even better once they upgraded with a stock upgrade. I could have went with a more expensive chassis but I do actually like the simplicity of this chassis, not as many moving parts to brake and I feel I could really drag it through the mud if wanted to. I have read/ youtubed nothing but reviews. I have a diamond back tactical scope 4x16x44, for me its perfect so far and well if I come into more cash and want to get into competition I can upgrade and move the scope onto another one of my rifles. I plan on buying a better bipod with the extra money I have, my current one is junk. But I am taking my time to think about mounting type, like the arca system or rail type for bipod.

My Savage 308 10TR is in a Cadex Field strike, and my 10FCPK in223 is in a Cadex Field strike. They're discontinued models, but the new models available are likely just as good or better, and I love mine. Excellent upgrade to both rifles.

Nice
my XRS chassis should be here tomorrow or the next day.
Now I am debating on bipod I know there has been lots of discussion on here about Arca, rail or just plain old sling swivel. I know what people will say about the sling swivel but I was thinking I can get a bipod (most likely Harris swivel notch legs 6-9) and just use it to switch out between my other hunting rifle and rimfire. I can get a arca or rail with an adapter.
I am not looking to compete anytime soon and dont really know if it would be available where I am at, so do I really need an Arca?
For the next week or so I have a cheap bipod that I will throw on the front till I decide to spend the money.

You can buy Picatinny adapters for the Harris. I run a Harris on my XRS. It's fine. Arca seems sweet but I'm not jumping on that train until I compete. The QD mount for the Harris is nice if you have multiple rifles with a pic rail for mounting

Received my chassis today took about 20min to take old chassis off and insert into the XRS, would have been quicker but couldn't find the right size tool for the job. Then adjusted length of pull and cheek height. Tried the different sized grips and decided to stick with smaller size as it fit my hand better. Put my crappy bipod on the front swivel "temporarily", till the well deserved tax money comes. The bipod seems to slide around a bit on the stud so I will be looking t the picatinny or Arca

Nice choice on the chassis. You may want to look at different bipods though. There's nothing wrong with a Harris, but there are other options that are better. I used a Harris for years before I even tried anything else; now I very rarely use one.
