Hi guys, My friend is new to reloading and He just want to know if some of you guys have a Savage 10fp and do some reload for it... in .308 cal.

Or could you just tell us a good and fast recipe with some 165 gr or 168 grainers (maybe Barnes tsx) ..

This load will be used to do some moose hunting...

all thanks in advance

.308,24"barrel,165gr bullet - I have two rifles with these specs. I use 43gr of H-4895, Federal 210 LRP, and Hornady SST's, or Nosler Acccubond's. Varget
is also a very good powder. When loading for hunting season Both these powders are very temperature tolorant. That is it burns good at -15 C or 25C.

Try Varget, Reloder 15 or Vihtavuori N550 (or even N540).

These powders should give the best velocities, combined with excellent accuracy.

I get good results with neck sized Winchester brass, CCI BR-2 primer , 42 grains of Varget pushing a 178 grain A-Max.

Best group is .330 so far.

I have the 10 FLP (Left hand'er) 24" HB.

Craig67 is right on the money with the heavy bullets. The only downside is if you shoot past 300M then you have a problem running out of elevation adjustment.

N550 is awesome with 190-210gr. bullets in 308 Win. A 208 AMAX/210gr. VLD with N550 will best even the 155 Scenar in the wind (but will drop more).

The 10FP has a 1-10" twist barrel. It will handle the heavier bullets no problem. You'd be far better off shooting something like the Nosler 200gr. Accubonds (BC= 0.588) for hunting.

Whwn I had a 10 FP i ran 175 smks and 43.0 grains of varget, lapua brass and Fed GMM LR primers. I think .020 off the lands, it shot ok.

I also think i had good results with 165 smks and an extra grain of powder.
