What are you shooting?

Heres the first load I tried:

178 Grain Hornady Amax Moly over 44 Grains of Varget

Bullet was well into the lands...a little too far I think.

Gave a decent group still.

I just bought a box of the 178 gr A-Max's , haven't loaded any yet, but please keep me posted about your load development.

What size was the group ?

I have a pretty decent load for the 168 gr Match bullets by Hornady, 45 gr of Varget, seated at 2.820". That is just off the lands in my 10 FLP. This shoots sub- moa in my rifle. Best group to date is 0.760 at 100 yds.

Thanks,

Craig

Savage 12 FV .308

Here is a load I worked up for my Savage 12 FV with the Palmas .010 off the lands. It's a five shot group the paper flipped back up on the lower shot....there is still room for improvement so when I have time I will experiment with seating depth and minor variations in powder. With that same load I was able to shoot a 737-36x at 300 meters at the Frosty Farky in Kamloops.....750-75x being a perfect score.

I used 168gr BTHP's in Hornady & Federal with exellent results, for brass, it'll take almost anything including IVI brass w/ 168gr Sierra GameKings.

Sorry to bump this back up but I'm having some great results with the A-Max's.

The load is 42 grains of Varget, CCI BR-2 primer in a RP neck sized case. Bullets are seated to 2.845" COL.

First group was 0.486", best of 3 is 0.330" so far :D

what speed are you getting..that sounds mild,I would bet your are around 2450/2500 max...so not really the best for long range stuff

I load for a bunch of guy's and this is the same load we use for all there guns

Win brass,44.5grs of Varget,CCI-BR2 primers 175SMK loaded to mag lenght in all rifles(two Savages one 700P) avg speed 2630 for the Savage and 2680 in the 700p shoot .5 or better in any gun I have used it in

I haven't chrony'd them yet, my brother, his chrony and my load haven't yet converged at the range :)

I'm restricted to 200yds at my range so max velocity isn't my biggest concern right now, accuracy is.

My 168 gr load is moving at 2793 fps avg. but I think I need to re develop that load, its at best 0.850" @ 100 but groups just over 1/2 moa at 200 yds
