I am in the process of buying a Savage 10FPLE2A (choate grip) for some precision shooting up to 300 yards with a possibility of shooting farther at DND ranges. I would like to be able to use it for hunting in the future. Is there a scope that could do double duty especially with one who's eyesight is getting olde. I have been leaning towards Bushnell for I can get a good price on them.

I beleive LaBarons has 40-10X mill-dot for around the $230 - $250 mark, i'm looking to put one on my 10FPLE. I don't see that many here on the exchange forum, so it looks like most people that have 'em, keep 'em.
Welcome to CGN!

I got the Bush 10x40 MilDot on my 10FP & is fine for an entry level...I plan to evolve quite fast & acquire something way better in the future. If I would do it again, I would probably get the Elite 4200 in Mildot as long it has #'s on the dials.

I also have the 10x40 Bushnell MilDot on my 10FP for general target and hunting. In my opinion, for the $250 it costs, you can't go wrong. Quick adjustments make all the difference out there, you'll be happy with it. Shoot safe.

I'm considering the 10X Bushnell 3200 scope...I know little about precision shooting and setups...is 10X enough magnification for 100-300 yard target shooting?

If you do get better at LR shooting, you may want to checkout NightForce or a Leupold Mark4 or better...

300Spartans,

get the New first edition of the Barrett annual. In that magazine is an article about "factory installed scopes" one of the 2 is the Bushnell 10X tactical. It proved very accurate and consistant, that alone tells me how good the quality is. It is a great scope, I am surprised it is not more expensive.

Military uses only 10x or not much more often out to 1000 yards (changing), for 100 to 300 casual paper punching it plenty.

To the originator of this thread; but as for your rifle, don't go with the Choate model! Get the McMillan version, you'll NEVER regret the minor extra investment. And for glass, go for a Leupold, you won't regret that either.
