I have the Savage 10FP in .223. Website shows the barrel twist is 1 in 9. What weight bullet would work best in this?

Am i too assume that the faster the twist, the lighter the bullet... and the smaller the twist the heavier the bullet? Or is it the complete opposite?

Does anyone have any idea what the twist rate is on a CZ 527 in .223? I have this gun also... so what weight bullet would work best in this one?

Thanks in advance

What do you plan to do with your Savage? Are you using it for varmint hunting or punching paper - and at what range?

A heavier bullet requires a faster twist rate to stabilize it (eg. a lower number like 1:9, 1:8, 1:7)
A lighter bullet shoots better from a slower twist barrel (1:12, 1:14)

A 1:9 twist is relatively quick and will stabilize middle to heayy 22cal bullets (in .223) but not the heaviest - you'll need a 1:7 twist for those.

Hope this helps. Not familliar with the CZ you mentioned.

Every gun has its preference too so you'll probably have to try a few to find the 'perfect' one.

Good luck finding the best shooting bullet for you rifle !

My Savage 12FV also has a 1/9 twist... it really likes 69 gr bullets and has also done well with 77gr bullets, although I think that might be the limit.
