Finally got my Savage out to the range today. This is my first serious go at precision shooting. After running about 20 or so rounds through for break in and zero, I shot a couple of 3 and 4 round groups. Scope is a Nikon M308 and ammo was 168gn Hornady A-Max sitting on 40gn of IMR 3031 and CCI 200 primers. This scope has a standard Nixoplex reticle with the rapid acquisition turrets. Range change from 100 to 200 was spot on with this load.

200M. Center shots are the initial rounds impacting after going from 100M to 200M.

200M. 1 and 2 are 3 round groups, 3 is a 4 round group.

100M. Shot on the far left was from initial sight in and zero.

I was itching to get it out since it arrived back in January. Now that I've got some rounds through it I can fine tune my loads and really dial it in.

I was thinking of trying the A-Max. I have had good results with the 168g Hornady match. What is your COAL?

This was my first go at reloading for rifle, so I set the COL for 2.795. The cases were brand new S&B, so I didn't do any case prep other than flaring the mouth. I was going to try the 168gn Hornady match but they were sold out, so I had to go for the A-max.
