Savage 10TR

I'm new to the forums and not sure if this is the right section to ask a question like this.

I recently bought a SavageLE 10TR in .308. The rifle comes threaded for a 5/8-24 muzzle device. From the limited number of lager caliber rifles I've shot. I have never needed a muzzle break.

My question, is it really necessary to put a muzzle break on a .308? If yes, which type. I only ever plan to shoot this rifle at the range and hopefully, learn to shoot past 500 yards.

2nd question and this is for people that have shot this particular rifle. What's the farthest out you were able to effectively shoot this rifle?

Muzzle brake is not necessary at all - there are many to choose from though if you want to go down that road. No right or wrong on, as long as it fits and you like it.
