this Savage 10tr is exactly what i am looking for. I want a 22-24 inch HEAVY barrel in .223 or 308. I just think the regular barrels look to skinny for this chassis. This is the right buy for me .
Yeah, the standard pencil thin barrels heat up quicker too. If your chasing the small groups or want to prolong barrel life then you can end up waiting a while for the barrel to cool in order to keep POI constant.
I would take some time to shoot and get to know the rifle before you put it in the new chassis. It will give a base line for you build changes and you can then gauge if your going forwards.
I have made the mistake of buying a new rifle, shooting a few groups and then making too many changes at once. I don't enjoy second guessing my decisions. I wasted a lot of powder and barrel life on that one. LOL.
The MDT is a great looking chassis btw.
