Savage 11/111 lightweight hunter

Very light for the price. Most likely will shoot well. Action is a little rough do to the bolt fluting, but I've only handled new examples so maybe they smooth out with some use.

My issue is, although I prefer wood and blue, I want stainless and synthetic on a rifle where every ounce counts. The only hunts where you really need that light weight are multi day backpack hunts. On multi day pack hunts I don't want to worry about maintaining a rifle so closely.

I own one in 7mm-08 since last spring.

Pros : - light
- compact
- accurate
- affordable

Cons : - wood and blued can be a drawback for some.
- questionnable plastic shims on mag holding plate
- holes in forearms can let dirt come in.

I now have a sub-moa load with 140gr Nosler Balistic Tip. Some other bullets look promising.

I'm very happy with that compact rig for now.

Next deer trip will be fun for sure.
