Does anyone here own one of these in .243? I'm thinking about buying one and I really like the 5.5 pounds.
Are they worth the approx. $800 price tag??

My wife just bought one in 223 and we haven't had it out yet but it's our BFF (best family friend). Neat little piece!

They go on sale from time to time for around $700 (in addition right now there is a $75 US rebate!) and there is a lot of technology there for the price. Guess it depends on what you are using it for and how much weight vs. recoil matters, 223 and 243 are a non-issue but it does go up from there.

Any gun that you like is worth the price - if you can afford it.

They're on for 699 right now at Cabela's. Got myself a .308. Last one in the country. Send out the $75 rebate and you're way ahead of the game.

So you're the one I should be jealous of, I was looking for one in .308.

To the OP, barring the budget hunting rifles like the Axis or American Rifle, the $700-$800 range isn't all that high for a new bolt action. Some Remington 700s will be in that bracket and they certainly won't weigh 5.5 lbs and have detachable and readily available magazines. If I had to do it all over again, I'd have gone with the Savage 11 Lightweight Hunter in .308, but right now, I have too much invested in my Ruger GSR to just dump it.

I picked a used one in 7mm-08 Rem , last spring . It was in like new condition and was very happy with my find. After reloading some loads , i went to the range and i had some misfires . Just had to adjust the striker lenght and all is fine now.
It shoots sub-moa and is a pleasure to carry in the woods. Got two deers with it this fall . Would have picked a .308 for sure if i was a little more Lucky though . Unbeatable for a Lightweight at that price range.

oldest son has one in 260, he hasn't found a factory load that it likes a lot and hasn't had time to roll his own, yet. A sweet gun to carry and purdy purdy, too! !

Yeah I saw that jlag haven't seen one in the flesh yet though. It looks like its just their cheap synthetic stock that you'd see on the lower end model 11s and 16s which is a bit underwhelming. I'd still like to fondle one..

Man, that stainless version has got my attention. Just checked the available chamberings and all short action except it hat .270 listed. Wonder if it is a type-0 and supposed to be .260? The .260 would be my choice but I would take a .243. I'm guessing the 7mm-08 and .308 would have a noticeable amount of felt recoil at this weight.

I have the .270.

It's really a dream to carry and to shoot. I thought the recoil would be an issue but it's not at all. The stock is short and fits up perfect. I have far more expensive rifles but this is the nicest.

The stainless is very interesting but that stock is hidious for a $1000 rifle. I will probably pick one up in .270 when I see one. You guys may see a synthetic stocked, blue action and barrel lightweight hunter on the EE in a few months. ;)

They are carry all day rifles for sure. I have two, 223 and 260 and they will both shoot under an inch easily. A 6.5/284 or straight up 284 would be interesting in this rifle.

I have one in 7mm-08 and it is a sub moa beauty! The felt recoil is just fine and it is extremely light for sure, almost feels hollow its so light but its purdy and a great shooter and the cabellas deal is to nice to pass up go for it!!
