Does anyone have any experiences with the Savage 11 series they would like to share? I'm assuming they are just as accurate and reliable as any other but I had to ask. I am specifically interested in the model 11 with thumbhole in .22-250 which seem to be pretty hard to find. Only 6.75 pounds with a thumbhole stock has me thinking nice coyote rifle.

Also there are the Howa Varmint Knox and Varmint Package... I'm not sure what the names mean as the pictures are the same and there is no description on the retailers website (Prophet River). So any experiences with those would be nice as well.

Any help is appreciated.

"...a thumbhole stock..." Gives you a pistol grip feel without the pistol grip. And yeah, a .22-250 would be a great coyote rifle.
Knoxx is a stock maker. Same rifle otherwise.

Have owned both Savage and Weatherly Vanguard (Howa), very unlikely I will ever buy another Savage, I would not hesitate to own another Howa or Weatherby. If weight on is a consideration you might not like the Howa or Weatherby, they are not light. You can also buy a Boyds thumbhole stock for most rifles.

Yeah I was a little worried that the Howa was going to be heavy. I have owned a Vanguard and it was an awesome rifle but I don't know if I'd want to lug it around all day. I have a Savage model 25 with Thumbhole stock in .204 that I am currently using and it is by far the most accurate rifle I have ever shot under $700. Sounds like the 11 bth will be just as awesome.

I did not know Knox was just the stock maker, thanks!

I have a Howa heavy barrel with Blackhawk talon stock. Quite a bit heavier than a savage thumb hole, but you're also comparing varmint profile to sporter. I find the Howa more comfortable to shoot in a field position for coyotes, and do not mind the extra weight.

I'll add that I have never owned or even seen a Howa/vanguard that wasn't a shooter.

I just bought my 13 year old a Howa with the Knox adjustable stock in 243 for a deer rifle (his choice) from Clay at PR. I had some federal blue box laying around as well as some rem core loc - the coreloc shot around an inch for him but he shot 3 federals into a cloverleaf...he loves the rifle but does find it a bit heavy for carrying. Great for sitting though and the adjustable stock seems to make him happy.
