I know Savage makes a decent gun, they've been in business this long for a reason. My question is, what are your thoughts on this PARTICULAR rifle? I just want to get a new one soon to take out into the bush for this season. It has a cheap Bushnell 3-9x40 scope mounted on it, comes in a bunch of calibers .270, 7mm and .300 wsm being my top choices. Assuming it is worth the buy, which caliber would be the best pick of the three? My next year rifle is going to be a Browning BLR 81 in .308 if that helps. My hunting is going to be some moose and elk over time, but mostly mulie, whitetail and black bear.
 
Picked one up in .308 from Epps a couple months back. Haven't been to the range with it yet (I know, what the hell am I waiting for?). Seems solid. What brought me to the gun was the price. I have a full package deal, and can upgrade as money and time allow.
 
I had 1 and it shot very well! A little nicer fit, finish, and stock than the Stevens 200 but the scope is questionable! I took it off and put it on a Ruger 10/22. I would say for about the same money go get a Stevens 200, and put a decent scope on it!
