Think I want to remove the Muzzlebrake and mount a conventional 3-9x40 scope.
Anyone know what hardware I would need to mount the scope?
Also something to protect the threads where the Muzzlebrake was removed.
Thanks for any input.

I think Savage drilled and tapped that receiver for mounting a scope in the converntional position over the action, so any base sold for the Savage 11 should work. You might have to remove the Savage factory base for the scout position.

SFRC, one of the sponsors of this site, have them for $499 + $25 GST and free shipping.

I just used their website's search feature with the phrase Savage Scout, lots of results returned for Savage, a few for Scout, none for a Savage Scout rifle of any variant.

Frontier Firearms has Savage's Axis II Scout in 7.62x39mm for $599.xx, a Model 11 Scout for that price wouldn't be around for long and there probably aren't many new ones to be found. The current Scout rifle from Savage is based on the 110 series.

I got one from Jo-Brook Outdoors a month ago and I’m quite liking it. Took off the scout rail, plug screws in the holes, removed the peep and added standard weaver bases. Mounted a fuddly steel tube Weaver 1.5x4.5 in weaver rings for a short and handy quad gun for checking bear baits. The muzzle brake reduces 180gr load recoil to almost nothing. Once final load development is done I’m thinking of reinstalling the peep and adding a flash hider in place of the brake but this works well as is. If you really want one, there is several still in stock at Jo-Brook. $499.99 :)

Wouldn’t say it’s excessive even with the short barrel, but not going to test noise level without ear protection of some sort. I wear custom ear plugs when hunting that allow near normal hearing but cut off noise over a certain dB. I’ve definitely heard loader brakes and you don’t feel any concussion.

I think that's an Axis Scout, here's a Model 11 Scout https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/savage-11-scout-bolt-action-rifle

Joe-Brook Outdoors has M-11 Scouts listed for $499.00. Besides, the Axis has a distinctive stock profile which doesn't match the one in Peecos's photo.

Also doesn't match the stock of the Model 11 Scout that superceded their first Scout model, the 10FMC. I can't find pictures big enough and clear enough to be sure the action is different. Or the same. Maybe they went back to the plainer stock style when they introduced the model 110 Scout, which is current on the Savage website? Neither an Axis nor a Model 11 based Scout is showing at SavageArms.com.

That's what the label says. I like the other 11-based one better, partly because I dislike stainless guns, partly because of the adjustable cheek piece, but you bought it and you're happy, that's what counts.
