Savage 110 7 mm mag scope ????

Savage 110 with 7mm mag scope question . range of use will be like 35 ish yards to 300 . Maybe stretch it out further for target fun .
Guys say 3x9 x40 Bushnell or a vortex .
Gun store guy says go with a 2x7 , cause a its better then a 3x9 for shorter range . Other guys say just go with a 3x9 . Any savage owners out there , any tips ????

Not much difference between 3-9 and 2-7. As it’s a 7 Mag I’d likely go with higher magnification, but it really depends where you feel your max range will be. For 300, either will do. - dan

I overscope everything, but at least I can see where the rounds hit, or where they're supposed to hit, rather than an area where they should, in theory, hit. Out to 300 I'd look at something in the 4-16, or even 3-18 range. If you are looking at Vortex already, maybe look at the 3-18 Strike Eagle. Trust me, if you are trying to hit a small target at 300 yards, it's going to be awful hard to see with a 7X, or even a 9X.

It really depends what you want to spend. You wouldn't be wrong with a 3.5-10x Leupold but maybe you want to spend less, or maybe money is no object.

Either way, I'd love to run a 3.5-10x on my 7 Mag. Right now it wears a fixed 6x though I do have a spare 3-9x Burris Signature that would be just dandy on it too. Once you get over 10x I start worrying about parallax, and I'm not in a rush to have to deal with that on a hunting scope.
