I'm hoping someone here can help me out here. I picked up a Savage 110 Apex Hunter a few months ago and noticed the magazine was brutal to lock into place. Having to use two hands to pop-it in at times. Figured it was just stiff new but many man hours later, still hard to pop it in...

I got a new mag from Savage, same problem. Next step is it to send it in which is no fun especially with all those coyotes running around. If I remove the stock, the mag pops in with ease (in the stock) but the second I put the barrel/receiver back on, problem returns. Looks to be coming into contact with the receiver, tight enough to cause an issue...

Is there an adjustment I can make to fix this? Shave a mill off the top of the mag? Any ideas would be appreciated. Maybe this is a common issue with the 110?

Cheers,

You could bed the bottom metal/plastic whatever it is with Devcon 10110 to separate it a bit, or shim it down a bit with plastic card material. My guess is the action screws were over tightened and compressed the bottom metal/plastic into the stock a bit causing your issue. I'm surprised the bolt doesn't rub on the feed lips. Is your bolt rubbing? If the bolt isn't rubbing you might just have to identify where the mag is contacting and clear out some material. Sand paper and a torch to smooth out the scratches after might be the ticket.
