Savage 110 Blind Magazine to DBM?

Hey folks,

I'm in the process of selling a Savage 110 in .300 Winchester Magnum and had a buyer ask how much work it would be to convert it to a detachable magazine. I told him it would likely cost a pretty penny, but he's pretty persistent that it's what he wants.

I'm more of a shotgun guy, so I don't know a whole lot about this, but I figure a new (or used) stock to start and then all the DBM parts (looks like this is what he needs? http://www.mysticprecision.com/wp/2402/cdi-precision-detachable-bottom-metal-2/)

I took the barreled action out of the stock and the magazine box is attached the receiver, so I think that makes it stagger-feed?

I wouldn't be going through all this if I was keeping it, but I figure I'm going to have more than a couple people ask about it. Any thoughts? Telling me it's a dumb idea wouldn't offend me because I think it is myself...

Thanks,

Cory

If it's the same as the 16 then just find lower bottom metal and a mag on the EE, or an oversized mag via northern republic magazine with used bottom metal, I was able to find lower bottom metal for a WSM off the EE fairly easily, and apparently savage does sell parts like this, there was some info on CGN about ordering directly though them.

I can offer CDI DBM for the Savage LA of the last decade. The rifle you show is quite a bit older. I cannot confirm if the bolt spacing is the same nor the mag box location. Odds are it will work but until the parts are on the bench, no way to guarantee. Savage has made small changes in the old to new gen actions. Small can be a huge PITA when trying to fit DBM.

BUT, I can offer the parts if interested. And yes, it will end up costing a fair amount to retrofit and inlett the stock... but really no different then any other action.

I'll have to watch this one.

I have an older savage blind mag 300WM model 110

funny thing is the internal box mag is not going to come off without some serious work, something is going to have to bend... and its going to be permanent.
