Anyone have experience with the 110 ultralite?

It sounds like a decent value lightweight rifle, I'm curious if anyone owns one and what they think.

I wouldn't mind a lighter and newer rifle, and this one caught my eye because of the barrel.

What are they worth these days?

I used one in .308 for a season.. harvested a moose, mule deer and 2 bears with it.. it was accurate and light and I had 0 complaints.
Paid the introductory price of 1449 as well which was an absolute steal IMO.
If they are still under 2k it’s worth every penny.
Every dollar over 2k and there are better options IMO.

That being said you wouldn’t be unhappy with the gun.. it shot insanely accurately with 175 grain terminal ascent factory ammo.

I had one in 6.5 PRC with the proof CFW barrel.
I had a hard time finding a load it liked, best I could get was 1 MOA.
I’m capable of around 3/4 of that.
After some research , I think where the gun is so light, it’s more difficult to shoot groups.. who knows

But it sure handles nice, only upgrade I think it needs is a stock upgrade, something lightweight and similar, only better?

Lightweight rifles are a bit of different animal for sure. Not very forgiving, but working on the fundamentals can really show some great results. I had several that straightened up nicely when I worked at it.

I have worked on three different Savage Ultralites for guys, sheep hunter all three.
Every one of them loves their rifle, super light and accurate .
1MOA with a 3 shot group off the light bipod on a rifle that light chambered in something like 280AI is not out of the question for sure, let's be realistic, it is NOT a target rifle it is a hunting rifle!

wow! Quite the season you had Ryo lol.

From what I've seen, 2k seems to be what they are going for.

Any complaints with the rifle you used?

I bought one just because it was on sale 1569 at the time, camo 6.5 PRC, Easy to shoot, loves 156 Berger’s .50 MOA with hardly any load work up.
It’s more accurate than my other not so cheap 6.5 prc

I am not a savage fan or into many of the features but it is wild how much you get for your dollar in terms of barrel etc with these guns. Or was at least they are probably pricier now

Yea I’d say it was a lucky year lol still eating that moose !
Unfortunately I’m the kind of guy that always likes to hunt with and develop a new load for new guns so most seasons I sell the rifle I use and move on..

My ONLY complaint is the factory accutrigger. Some people love them.. I hated them..
A quick $200 timney pro series trigger and it was a crisp breaking 3lbs and the gun shot lights out.

if you want the proof carbon barrel and I see you live in Alberta, good smiths around can fit one into better rifles than savage imo, it's like putting lipstick on a pig with that rifle, know a great smith in Langdon area east of Calgary that has done this for me a couple times and Korth on edge of Okotoks is proof distributor, just sayin...the only savage to look at imo is the lightweight with stainless barrel

False.
Savages barrel lockup for accuracy is second to none for factory rifles.
Are they pretty? Nope. But they will shoot circles around a lot of guns..

they are pigs but they shoot great, I would bet the stainless lightweight outshoots the proof carbon, you won't get argument from me on their accuracy, you just have to put up with the rifle to have it, but there are lots of non-pigs that shoot lights out also, I put a proof carbon on a howa and a cz 527 in 6.5 Grendel and shot factory eld-m ammo into 2.5" 3 shot groups in field pretty easy at 500 yards, using said smith in Langdon and sourced through Korth proof carbon barrel, just saying the proof on a savage is lipstick on a pig, if it's the barrel you want most which I think is what was stated by the op...then there are other options than just buying it in a pig, some of us like pigs though

I have one in 6.5 PRC as soon as they came out. I paid $1500 from Eagle Firearms in Tisdale. Great gun. I’ve got a Ziess V4 4-16 on it with the ballistic turret. Mine has consistently shot sub MOA groups with 129 gr Hornady SP, 140 SST, 142gr Accubond long range and Hornady 143 ELD—X. It also has shot the factory Hornady loads under MOA. All three shot groups but lots of them.

With Reloder 26 and Hornady Data I load the 143 Eld x bullets to 3150 fps. The stock feels cheap but the gun shoots lights out.

This seems like the formula for the best gun, but if you don't have a gun you want to rebarrel it probably wouldn't be the cheapest!

savage Utralite just over 2,000.00 dollars(plastic stock)....fierce carbon Rogue (carbon fiber stock) 2850.00 ...Hmmmm, how do I choose?

Agreed, whether it be the Savage UL the OP inquired about or Rem Mtn, Tikka SL or a host of others with #2 profile barrels. The rule of three and let it cool down can yield the results most are looking for however.

The UL/LW rigs aren’t meant to be shot repeatedly, they’re meant for long hikes and usually at elevation and one or two shots to anchor an animal. That’s the trade-off with them.

If one can accept and buy into the above , they’ll be better off both at the bench and in the field.
