Hi all,

I am re-building a 111 for a friends wife. He was looking at buying her a new stock (from richardson's?) but it only comes in a blind magazine configuration.

My question is: what would one use for a magazine? I understand the bits required, but I am wondering if anyone has a source for this? Would Western Gun Parts have the metal shroud, spring and follower? Does anyone know if there is a drop floor-plate that could work?

Any other suggestions would also be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ian

So you have a 111 with clip that you want to convert to a blind magazine because the aftermarket stock comes that way. You can with a little bit of patience convert the aftermarket stock to take your detachable clip system.

It takes some pretty accurate inletting an allignment for the magazine release, some stock mods plus the cutout for the box but it can be done, i have done it a couple times already. The results have been very favorable as well without any loss to function and a truly custom stock.

You need to take a look at the bottom of this action. Some actions do not have the mag box cuts. There are two slots for the bent lips of the mag box to click into, one each at the front and rear of the opening, circled in red. Note the lack of detachable mag box cuts, blue line.

Getting a mag box and follower is easy, I have lots if you need some, still in the wrap.

Okay, I am back. Sorry, but work has me running all over.

So I looked at the action, and it appears to have both types of cuts on it; the end notches AND the side grooves. So where does that leave me? I am assuming I should be able to just order the magazine box and follower from western gun parts and go from there.

Gunpro, I have thought about this, and as handy as I feel I am with repairing / refinishing firearms, I may be a little hesitant to bugger up the guy's stock.

On another note, what about a floor plate (i.e. the remingtons) for this gun? Does anyone make one, or is there one that can be used / will fit?

I personally like the floor plate design, but will be doing whatever is easiest in this case.

Thanks,

Ian

Your good to go, just get some parts.

P&D enterprises had left hand 114 American Classics in stock. Sell that one and get a new one, quick and painless for you guys and she will likely be very happy with a new one.

Cheers

I actually have a very nice "stock" replacement for it, but her husband was looking at making it a bit more special. I will wait to see what he decides.

Thanks for the help.

Does anyone know about the floor plate thing?
