This is turning into a decent day. I was checking out the available savage/stevens rifles in 243 and notice on SIR web site they have the 111fcxp package(detachable mag) available in 243. Call to order and I guess it is a new offering by savage and but they wont have them in till april/may. I preordered so know it is just a waiting game.

I have entertaining the thought of getting a stevens but am partial to the detachable mag. With the shortage of stevens rifles in 243 right know (wholesale sports says they do not know when their shipment will be in) I figured I have to wait anyways so what the heck.

Now I just have to start searching for a decent scope to replace the simmons.

You might want to contact Savage directly and confirm they are offering this chambering. The 111 models are a long action ( model 11 is short action) and the 243Win is a short action cartridge. There is nothing on the Savage websight indicating that they are now offering the 111fcxp in 243, just 270, 30-06, 7mmRM and 300WM. It could be that they haven't updated their sight, but it wouldn't hurt to be sure.
 
I did check savages website and will give them a call monday. On Sir's site they also list a youth model 11FYCXP3 in the 243 caliber offering so I figured?
that on the regular model they probably just typed in a extra 1.

The lady that took my order said it was just posted to website and it was going to be in their next catalog. Regardless if it is too good to be true I can always go with the original plan and pick up the Stevens 200 instead.
