has anyone experianced the stock working loose (the screws on the underside next to the trigger housing and mag) seems to happen after roughly 20 rounds. i took it back to the local store where i bought it, he said that the screws probably were not tightened at the factory and tightened them for me. next trip to the range... same thing:confused:

action is already bedded and not keen on the locite until i look into this further but thankyou both. the savage rep is checking this out... he promised to get back to me by friday but also said he hasnt heard of this before. went through all the possibles including ammo ofcourse. using fusion 308 180g which performes better than any other ive tryed. if all else fails, they said they would replace the whole package. gun, scope, and bi-pod through my local dealer. in and out the store within ten minutes with new rig. dam decent customer service.

action is already bedded

I have the same gun. When I bedded her I put threaded bar, coated in release agent, in the action. A small amount of bedding material went inside the pillars. I deliberately did not remove this material from the inside the pillars. I fully bedded the recoil lug (no air gap) so I do not believe any stress is on the action bolts themselves but the snug fit means it is unlikely they would unscrew.

I took the above tips from suggestions on this site. Seems to work, I am very happy with the way the $400 gun shoots.

I did manage to go the range a few weeks ago with loose action, base and ring screws. My Hat-trick provided very poor grouping as you can imagine.
