I am considering a varmint rifle in 223.

I was looking at Savage 12 BVSS or CZ 527 Varmint in 223. I like the HB and would like something reliable and accurate.

What are your recommendations?

Thanks

I have the cz, I love it with an unnatural love!
Seriously, it is the most accurate rifle I have ever owned. It likes bullets 60 grains or above, with 69 grain matchkings being awesome.
I am loading 60 gr interlocks over 26 grains varget at the moment. A couple of weeks ago, I shot at a 2" shoot n see type target at 375 yds. I saw the strike on the 3rd mil dot down on my scope. I raised the scope to the 3rd dot and fire again, drilling the 2" target in the middle. I could"nt stop grinning for 2 days! I"m going scouting for bow season this weekend and bringing my cz for coyotes.
They"re not cheap or easy to get, but the CZ is awesome with the varmint barrel and kevlar/aluminum stock.
It"s my 3rd cz rifle, so I am biased!

Heres my reccomendation:D

No contest in my mind... CZ all the way.

I have a 452 varmint in 22lr that shoots unbelievably for a .22. I would do unspeakable things for a 527 in .223 with the kevlar stock.

Bought my CZ527 more on spec than anything but it was the only leftie bolt 223 I could find at the time with a DM. Damn they make a nice rifle. According to their site weigh the same as my CZ452. I sure do like that set trigger. It has been bedded and I am just working up loads right now but I expect great things from this rifle. Replaced a Ruger No 1 223 with this gun and am never looking back. Has a nice Nikon Prostaff 6-18 on it and is my fave gun to shoot. Apparently it was the first one Reliable had gotten in and I had to beat the counter guys off to keep them from drooling....:)

I have the 527 in a 204 Varmint, great rifle, also have the American in several chamberings,223,221,Hornet, and soon to be K-Hornet. Love them all. FS

I vote for the Savage. My 12FVSS is amazing (same as BVSS other than the stock). Mine is in .308 and the thing is a shooter. Normally I shoot at 100 yards but I just took three shots at 300 yards and got them all within 1.5" with a 9x scope. Not too bad for my first time.

This is all without me owning a CZ. So by all means get one if they are better and you have the money for one.

I have a CZ 527 American in 204 ruger and I also have a Savage a model 12 in 243. I think I love both guns about the same. Both guns shoot less than moa with hand loads. On the CZ that set trigger is great, and I really like the accutrigger as well.
I have full intentions of hot rodding my Savage have a Shilen barrel on my desk just waiting to be installed when I acquire the tools to do so.

If you do go the Savage route be sure to spend the extra and get a bvss style stock versus the Tupperware. You will save a bunch of money in the long run.

I have a Savage VLP in 223 and a CZ 550 Varmint in 308

I have a lot less problem finfing a load that will shoot tight with the Savage than with the CZ.

I should have listen to the little voice and bought a VLP in .308 instead of the CZ.
