Savage 12F question?

Hi,

I have buy a savage 12F in 6.5-284 and i just see the hole in my receiver for screw my base don't have all the same depth, it's normal?

Front hole :

The first front hole is the less deep, the second a little more deep.

Back hole :

The two back hole are deep.

The 4 holes are drilled and tapped completely through the action. The barrel threads in past the front hole and that is what you are seeing. When installing base screws, all 4 screws need to be trimmed to proper length.
