Savage 12F/TR pics of fun

Nearest Neighbours - 1 mile south, 1.2 miles north, 2 miles to the west and 2 miles to the east.
My shooting range is a half section 320 acres, 1/2 mile wide X 1 mile long. I have acccess to one 1/2 mile wide X 1.5 miles long.

All I can say is "Heaven smiles upon thee" because I can't imagine having access to that amount of land anywhere near me, nor can I imagine affording it! Not to mention that the provincial cops (Sûreté du Québec) would be all over my ass!

That's some great shooting at a great range you can call your own; enjoy.

Looks like some really goood shooting fun fun fun!!!! I have access to a range smililar to that out at my parents farm. We shoot 1025 yards often I will try 1800 next spring. Makes me wish it was not 40 minutes away. I would shoot more often if it was closer. Love that @#*@!!! I can't get enought of it. Oh those are some really nice rigs too. Damit I gotta get out and shoot thanks for letting us see.

hugh is that a little undercut i seen on those welds.lol
well let me say im i envy you. usually have to drive a couple hours to shoot that distance. see you soon bud

Just remember Mutt I was doing B pressure welds before you were born.

I just spent a day and a half building steel targets, now I have enough to lay out a good challenge. 2 - 2' X6' tall targets at 1000 yards. 1- 30" X 40" target at 1100. 18" gong at 1200yards. 20" X 30" gong at 1 mile. Your going to need more up!

My 6.5/284 will be here by Friday, woohoo.

I might put together some 4'X4' gongs for young whipersnapper welders!! Say out to 1250 yards.

Now all I have to do is figure out how to use my gps to range things! Anyone else have a Magellan eXplorist 210? I've turned mine on 3 times, marked the spot, then turned it off, deer hunting.

tigrr, that is all you need to do. Stand next to the gong. Mark the spot. Just make sure you have a strong GPS reading with error as small as possible. Hopefully, under 3m

Then go back to your bench, do the goto function and you should get a distance reading.

Voila, close enough for plinking.

Great stuff.

Jerry

To bad you didn't live closer Jerry
I have ranged all the targets with my gps, set all the close ones up and any farther than 998 yards I switch to meters. It wasn't to hard!

Very nice to see how the F/TR can perform in the right hands!! I just bought one not too long ago, but I've only fired out to 500yds with it so far. I'm quite happy with the results, but it looks like this rifle will outshoot me for quite a while yet!

Thanks for the pics! I have found it difficult to find many Savage 12 F/TR owners around for their experiences.
