Savage 14 Classic or Ruger M77

Bought a remington!

Well after a trip to Elwood's I ended up with another Remy!
Looked at savage 14, 11 & 16 as well as Ruger m77 standard, winchester 70 sporter and Rem 700 XCR (.270). I wanted to like the Ruger but I couldn't get past the action - found it a little rough/sloppy, it was a beauty otherwise (trigger was fine to me) and would have chose it over Savage if it wasn't for action. Had my heart on .308 - if not for that an XCR II would have come home with me - great gun and love the ruggedness of it. Savage was nice but couldn't bring myself to buy it for some reason. I was ready to walk out empty handed until I looked at a Rem 700 LS! Like the laminate stock a lot as well as recessed crown on remy's over savage. Picked up some leopold bases and mounts and will be putting my 3200 2-7X on it for some deer slaying this fall! Anyhow thanks for advice all

I cant comment on a new Ruger, but I do have an original M77 tang safety model in .308 and its unquestionably the best bolt action rifle ive ever handled. Shoulders like a dream, shoots lights out. Can carry it all day long without even noticing it.

Just bought a 114 with wood stock and stainless, went in to buy a BLR walked out with the Savage. She is a beaut and miles ahead of the ruger

That was another feature I really liked on new savage vs new ruger -safety on the tang is really nice - better than remington i would even say. Maybe I need to find an original M77 next!
