Savage 16 short action can be a switch barrel?

Please correct me if I'm wrong but is this as simple as it sounds? You simply clamp the barrelled action in a barrel vise, loosen the barrel nut, spin the barrel off, put the other barrel on (cartridge with identical bolt face), tighten the barrel nut, check for proper head space and you're done?

get some go and no go gauges for the caliber of your barrel, then punch an index mark on the barrel when assembled, no need for gauges the second time around
