Savage 170 30-30 pump action. . .

Hey y'all

I recently picked up a Savage 170 30-30 pump action carbine in reasonable shape for a pretty good price.

It comes with factory drilling and tapping, so I was thinking about putting a scope on it.

Has anybody else out there done this, and if so, what can you tell me to take into consideration? Any particular scope or mounts you'd recommend?

Anybody have anything else to say about the rifle?

My dad has one he put a red dot on with weaver mt, and it works great for him. If you want that 170 to work good, pump it like you mean it. Don't baby it!

I figured that much out already!

The receiver seems to be the same basic unit I had on my Savage 77 shotgun, and I suspect a lot of the internals will look the same too.

Any mounts for the Remington 760 and 740 fit the Savage 170.

I've got a set of Redfield Jr 2 piece mounts and rings on my 170 in 35 Rem.
