Savage 1942 No4Mk1(T) Sniper? (Pics Added)

Canadian,s did there own long branch conversions.Everything else was done in England.
Holland and Holland did the the bulk of them except for the trials rifles, which were done at Enfield.A few savage rifles were converted, but none in the USA.

Who did the Sniper Conversions? Was it in Canada, England or US?

By Holland & Holland (S51) & RSAF Enfield (barrel)… approximately 3,400….

What to look for ....

1942 No.4 Mk1*(T) Savage Sniper Rifle (less scope)http://www.milsurps.com/content.php?r=194-1942-No.4-Mk1*(T)-Savage-Sniper-Rifle-(less-scope)
(Mfg under Lend Lease Act by Savage in 1942)
(Converted to sniper configuration "less scope" by Holland and Holland)

Hard to find collectible, particularly with correctly marked "T.Less Telescope" original transit chest. ;)

Doug

Also, some of the books are not correct stating that no Savage No.4(T) complete snipers were made. Several do exist with the correct period scope number on the wrist. The earliest Savage sniper conversion is 0C01 with another 0C178 in existence and both with No.32 Mk.1 KL scopes and the wrists numbered.

Here's the 1942 Savage No4MK1(T). My Uncle picked this one up shortly after WW2
at a surplus store. He thinks it was sometime between 1946 and 1952.

Talk about accurate with this one at the range!

What can you tell me about the scope's maker (No32 MkIII, AK&S, /|\ 1945, and the red painted bolt/screw on the bottom?

AK&S - A. Kershaw & Sons Ltd. (Soho Ltd) Now google becomes your friend.

Is the red a 'W' about 1/2" high. A red W indicated a scope with better sealing making them more waterproof.

EDIT nubmers of Sniper models produced by maker.
