savage 2008 catalogue out

Again, Savage steps up, listens to all our blogging and makes items WE WANT.

The 6BR option in BOTH their varmint and Fclass rifles will sell like crazy. We can forget about getting them in Canada for a very long time.

Nice to see that they finalized the F class to a properly shaped stock. The F(TR) still fights a horrid design.

I am curious to see how their new model 25 works out. Might be a dirt cheap varminter. Hopefully, it will also shoot like the 10/110's.

Now I know where all those Boyds stocks ended up.

Their LE line has expanded to include 223 as a cal option. Wonder what type of mag it used. will have to check the specs further.

For those looking to get into tactical style shooting and want a dmag, I can say from experience the new center feed system rivals the AI for smoothness and speed of feeding. They just need to start making 10rds mags.

so maybe I should order one now, then it will be here when I actually have the money to pay for it!

so what is the final word on why and how long it will be before savage can ship into canada?
I got a 12FVSS in november that came out of the states, through a canadian distributor, and to my local gun guy, and that only took 3 weeks

No idea on the bondoggle with Savage importation. There are many versions.

I do know that the response in the US for these F class/varmint rifles has outstripped supply. Now they are supplying bare actions and these are selling like nuts too.

How do you argue with a BR accurate single shot action WITH a 6oz trigger for around $400 US????

I am sure that Savage will find a balance for supply and our fair share will come up but that might take till later in 2008 or 2009. We will just have to see.

I was told by Savage Canada back in September that they temporarily lost their import permit.

I was looking for a 12fv in 243 at the time and they were very helpful in finding a distributer with one in stock.

Now that was how many months ago... have things changed?

A New Year might have aleviated some of the problems they were facing.

I see the F/TR is also chambered for 6BR now too. Nice to see more off-the-shelf rigs for new people to get into bench and f-class.

Best of the best...

Yep. I think Savage will do more for Fclass then all the other manf put together. Just love the addition of the 6BR.

Wonder when the other brands are going to enter the market.

Dirt cheap entry rifle. Accurate enough to be competitive. When the need arises, a barrel swap and they are seriously competitive.

From what happened at the US Nats in 2007, they are a going to sell alot of these.

The F(O) rifle is well laid out and a nice stock. The orig design was downright scary. Again, Savage listened to the calls of horror and quickly changed to a much better design.

The F(TR) is still saddled with a frankenstock. Sure hope they change this after their present inventory of stocks runs out. They should go with the F(O) stock and add a bipod adapter or make the forend narrower.

Love to shoot one of these this year and see how it drives.

Since I'm planning on a new 223 sometime this year, the thought of a Savage 223 with a McM or a HS stock is nothing short of a miracle. But I can't find it written anywhere in the 2008 specs where Savage will offer these LE rifles in 223! They have offered 223 in the 10FP for many years, though. Can someone confirm a new LE 223 offering?!
