Just picked one up today, beautiful condition. Anyone have any insight, or knowledge of this rifle. Going to use this one while dogging the Central Ontario bush for deer. Any stories about the use of one would be great to.

I've used one, it was my wife's grand fathers. The bolt was sloppy but it was very accurate, more than my 94. Box mag is nice if you load, if you want to mount a scope you need special side mount thing like the old 94's. It actually feels like it kicks a little more than the average 30-30 but not enough to make a differance.

It's a cool little gun enjoy.

I believe a 219 is a single shot break action...

I've got one in a .22 hornet. Points beautifully. It was my Grampa's, he used it to shoot numerous deer in the 60's( I'm guessing that was legal then...).
I had to get an extractor made for mine. I'd love to get a shotgun barrel for it, it would make a nice option for bird season.

You may be thinking of the Savage 340 bolt action rifle.
